RE: A BIG THANKS TO HWH AND THIS FORUM

Nice to hear good stuff on supplier and manufacturers. HWH are great people. I have had the pleasure to visit Moscoe for service, they are tops.

RE: Running fridge on the inverter

I cannot run my refrigerator with the inverter because Travel Supreme did not wire the refrigerator to the inverter. Must be a reason for that. We run the refrigerator full time when traveling on LP, I just filled the LP tank for the first time in 5 years last month. I would say running the refrigerator on LP is pretty inexpensive. It's a HECK of a lot cheaper than replacing my 6V batteries from being over worked.
Actually, the attraction to residential refers has nothing to do with costs or efficiencies for that matter. It's because they are twice as deep as absorbsion types. That added up to nearly twice the storage capacity with the same unit width.

RE: How to handle non-RV family that want to borrow your MH?

Probably the best advice would be to seek the nitwit protection program. They change your name and relocate you and yours to somewhere you are not known (Similar to going to your mother-in-laws.)
I would also suggest a similar change and suitable disguise for your coach. You could pay for a body look change, but they might be quite expensive. A short trip to Mexico, leave the motor coach while you have lunch..........and bingo.......Not even you will reconize the rig when you come out.
Just kidding guys!!!

RE: Replacing Manual Awning with Power Awning

I think what D & M are saying relates to many power awnings being fair weather items. I must agree as I had Carefree power on my last coach and anything over 7 MPH wind lifted it and waved it around. I often then wondered if I should have gone manual. The current Girard are good for about 20 MPH. A good manual will work well in 30+ MPH with no worries. But, the power are nice when the weather is suitable.

RE: RV overheating

Hi Richard, Sounds like a rear rad issue. If so, the dirt is on the inside of the rad core and may not be as visible as one would think. Use Simply Green, or similar, sprayed into the rad fins from inside out. Then spray from the outside and then inside. Don't worry, it's not a big deal, it will run cool again, it's just a little extra maintenance. Good luck.

RE: Hydro -hot fluid question.

Hi Ross, Actually the Webesco, or however it's spelled, is not used in coaches in Canada usually. The Beckett burner is installed in all CSA built units. Works out that it is a bigger and easier burner to service. It is also standard with selectable engine preheat, an option usually.
The use of engine glycols in an interior heating system is not done as of exremely high liability issues. I can't believe Blue Bird would design, sell, or even think of such a system. Are you sure that it works that way?

RE: Hydro -hot fluid question.

Many systems now use the engine antifreeze in the entire system. ie a leak anywhere can deplete the radiator. Most have zone valves but there are systems that heat ALL the antifreeze anytime coach heat is required. Very poor system since the engine is always "preheated" and wastes fuel.
Ross
Exactly what "many systems now" has what? I don't know any systems that use the engine and boiler, or whatever to heat the coach with one anti-freeze.
Many coaches (DP's) use glycol to heat the coach, ie: Hydro Hot, Aqua Hot and Oasis, but all are separate systems and totally diffent glycols.
Please re-visit where you learned this and put them right.

RE: Hydronic zone heating questions

Oh, there is something you should know, being Canadian, the Hydro Hot is supplied, as per CSA, with a different burner, a Beckett. This burner is larger in heating capacity than the Wasco (Or what ever the standard one is). Additionally it comes normally with the engine heat option as standard.
Another big advantage of the Beckett, is the servicing. Instead of the need to remove the burner to replace the noozle for the yearly service, you just have to open a door, changer the noozle and you're done.
I have the Hydro Hot CSA Beckett and love it.

RE: Wife and I Just bought our first MOHO ; )

JB, Congratulations. As far as the missing exhaust system on the Onan, I would suggest contacting an Onan dealer and see what they can suggest or offer. I hope you have great adventures and years of safe travels. Don't forget to pass your experiences onto the forum.

RE: Hydronic zone heating questions

Thanks for the info, a great help.
We are looking at a Newmar Ventana and the brchure says it can be equipped with a Hydronic zone propane system. Does that mean that it uses propane instead of diesel like the systems you are talking about?
Dale I wasn't aware that they were offering propane fired yet.Perhaps it is the newer version that runs on propane so it can also be supplied on gas rigs.

RE: Hydronic zone heating questions

Hi Dale, Hydro Hot, AquaHot and similar systems are far superior than any other heating systems out there. Here's an article from RV.NET's blog site that explains some of the advantages. LINK HERE

RE: Inverters

We've been Fulltimers for 8 years and never have "Dry Camped" because we don't have and inverter in our 2000 30-foot Winnebago Brave.
We are now looking to buy a 3009 Winnebago model 32H or an Itasca Suncruiser model 32H. Both of these offer a 600 att Inverter as an option. But that is only 5 amps. We would like to be able to pull off the side of the raod and run our A/C etc.
What would youn reccommend we do?
Here's some reading on RV.NET's blog that might help. HERE ALSO HERE

RE: Refurbishing recommendations

I can't offer you much info on the interior, but I can tell you Precision does excellent work. I have not used them myself but have had friends that did. They were very, very pleased. Additionally I believe Travel Supreme had all their coaches painted there, and I think we all know, TS had a great quality looking coach.

RE: Cat & Cummins?

I guess you are asking for a comparison of a Cummins ISL vrs. Cat C-9. If however you are talking ISB vrs. C-9, no contest. The Cat is bigger and more powerful.
ISL vrs. C-9, could go either way. You would not being going wrong with either. I can not compare the maintenance cost, but perhaps another member can.

RE: Cummins engines ULSD fuel and fuel pumps.

My fuel pump started leaking at about 5,000 miles and about the 2nd tank of ULSD. It was replaced immediately under warranty. I believe it was seal/gasket related. The exposed portion of the gasket that was black was replaced with one that appeared to be pink.
